I graduated college in August and decided to move here to teach English. This is my first time living outside of the states. I will try to post here regularly with whats going on in my life. Don’t judge me when 90% of my posts are about me getting drunk off Thai Whiskey and beer.

Bar Scene in Thailand

Reasons why I love the bar scene in Thailand:

* Girl to guy ratio - Usually there are much more girls out drinking than guys

* Trendy Thai girls - Self explanatory

* Cheap Liquor / Food :

  • Bottle of Whiskey                $10
  • Large bottle of beer             $2
  • Shot of quality Tequila         $1.50
  • Chicken/Pork/Beef Skewer     15 cents
  • No need to tip

* Lack of douchebags - Pretty self explanatory.

* Free Drinks - On a typical night we will get several free drinks / shots.  The Thais are ridiculously friendly/generous and constantly come over to talk to us.  They are always looking to practice their English and are just generally curious about foreigners.  It is very common for a Thai to walk over with a glass full of whiskey/coke and say ‘Mot Gaow’ which basically means ‘chug it’.

* Free Food - The Thais constantly call us over to their table and ask us if we would like to try whatever it is they are eating.  This can be either great or terrible.  I have discovered some amazing food this way but I have also eaten some really nasty crap.

* Ease of ordering drinks - Back home you have to fight your way to the bar to get a drink -  here you have a server who constantly comes to your table to refill your glass.  There is never a need to walk up directly to the bar.

* The Weather - Its never to cold to drink outside.
