My parents kept bugging me to send pictures home of my foot. I tried to delay it as long as possible because I knew they would freak out. I ended up sending them the photos that were posted on here. I woke up the following morning and checked my mail. I had 6 panicked e-mails from my parents. This is the one my dad sent me:
“I just showed the pics of your foot to a doctor, who is a friend of Anissa’s. He could not stress enough that you need to see a surgeon and infectious disease doctor here asap. You may need to be put in a hyperbolic chamber he said because if the infection get to your bone you will loose your foot and possibly your leg. You need to come back asap kyle. Let me know if I have to fly out to help you but start making arrangements now. He said if it was his son he would have him on a plane tomorrow. I’m not exaggerating one thing he said, he said you absolutely need to return or loose your foot and perhaps your leg. He said infection are hard enough to cure under the best conditions. Let me know what you are going to do.”
I sent a response back telling him that my foot has been looked at by 6 surgeons, 8+ doctors and 20+ nurses and at no point has anyone said my foot is in serious condition. I had even asked about 10 people at the hospital if I was at risk of losing my foot - they all laughed and said its not that bad.
I told my parents I am staying put and that I have faith in the doctors out here. I think my parents picture Thailand as this 3rd-world country where patients are carried into hospitals on wooden planks
