Ted Ginn for a 5th Rounder?
I’ll take it (though Santonio would’ve been better)
FOOTBALL YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
So I was thinking today about all of the NFL greats that I have seen play in person. Off the top of my head this is the list:
Jerry Rice Steve Young John Elway Terrell Davis Troy Aikman Michael Irvin Emmitt Smith Barry Sanders Herman Moore Brett Favre Randall Cunningham Chris Carter Randy Moss Michael Vick (In arguably his best game as a pro vs. Denver) Warren Sapp John Lynch Keyshawn Johnson...

Songkran Festival
“Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival since the former time. It is a celebration that embraces goodwill, love, compassion, and thankfulness, using water as the means of expression.”
I’ve been in Thailand over 7 months now and I would say that at least 80% of the Thai people I meet ask me if I have ever been to Songkran. It’s a huge deal out here. For...
It's Hot
It hit 106 yesterday. Today’s forecast: 108
This is not Thailand
I was in my room listening to music and heard two loud bangs outside my window. They scared the crap out of me because they were so loud. I didn’t think much of it since the kids down the way light off fireworks on a regular basis. A few minutes later I heard a woman in hysterics so I went downstairs. There was a woman laying motionless in the middle of the road, surrounded by a pool of...
Who invited you?
I went out on a ‘date’ tonight with a Thai girl I met about a week ago. I wasn’t really excited because it’s pretty much customary for the girl to bring along a friend in order to ‘get a feel’ for the guy - or some lame crap like that. And of course it’s customary for the guy to pay for everything. It’s annoying because basically I feel like...

I made my kids cry
Yesterday was the last day of school before summer break. On Thursday I brought my camera and had a picture taken of me with my favorite class - 4A (4th graders). I went to the photoshop that night and had 30 copies made so I could give one to each student. I came in on Friday and handed them out. About 5 minutes later one of the girls started crying and then all of a sudden every single kid...
Things my students say
Today in class I asked the students to raise their hand if they would like to visit America. I asked one of the students why he didn’t want to visit America
5th grader: “Because I no like white people
Me: “Why?”
5th grader: “I hate white skin”
Me: “OK … moving on …”

The Low Cost of Living in Thailand
Prior to moving out to Thailand I was working at a bank. I was working around 33 hours a week at an hourly rate of $11.50. I was commuting from Fort Collins to Denver 6x a week in order to get to work (about 100 miles round-trip).
This post is to compare what I was paying monthly for my expenses back home and what I currently pay. I have converted everything into US dollars.
All totals are...

Bar Scene in Thailand
Reasons why I love the bar scene in Thailand:
* Girl to guy ratio - Usually there are much more girls out drinking than guys
* Trendy Thai girls - Self explanatory
* Cheap Liquor / Food :
Bottle of Whiskey $10
Large bottle of beer $2
Shot of quality Tequila $1.50
Chicken/Pork/Beef Skewer 15 cents
No need to tip
* Lack of douchebags - Pretty...

Update
Its been a long time since I’ve posted something relevant about what I’ve been doing.
I accepted a full-time position at an elementary school here in Chiang Mai. I work Mon-Fri 730-430. I teach mostly 4th, 5th and 6th grade. Last week was my first week and it went pretty well. I have a lot of freedom as to what I teach in each class which is great. The best part though is not...
Stalker
My friend Rich has a stalker. He started talking to this girl on an internet dating site (I tried to warn him of the possible consequences). He ended up hanging out with her only one night - brought her back to his place and then sent her on her way. This was a week ago.
I got a call from him last night telling me she was stalking him. She has been calling him nonstop asking where he is and...

I Can Walk !!!!
Well, kind of. I am done with my crutches, limping around - its a start. I rented another motorbike as well. Things are looking up.
Its always a nice feeling when you go against everyone’s advice and things still turn out alright.
BORDER RUN!!!
Every three months I have to go on a border run to get my Visa stamped. This allows me to stay for an additional 3 months. Once I get a real job I will have a work permit and this tedious task wont be required.
It wasn’t too bad though. I went with a couple of friends and ended up buying all 5 seasons of Lost for ~ $20.
The trip took about 10 hours - 4 there, 2 in Burma and 4 back.
And I'm Back On My Grind
My parents kept bugging me to send pictures home of my foot. I tried to delay it as long as possible because I knew they would freak out. I ended up sending them the photos that were posted on here. I woke up the following morning and checked my mail. I had 6 panicked e-mails from my parents. This is the one my dad sent me:
“I just showed the pics of your foot to a doctor, who is a...
The Joys of Infection
Last Friday I went to another hospital to get a second opinion on my foot. I just felt like it wasn’t really improving so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have someone else look at it.
I went to a hospital close to my apartment. As soon as the surgeon saw it he told me it was infected and that I needed to be admitted. I ended up staying in the hospital for 3 nights. They put me on...
OMG MY TUMBLARITY HAS PLUMMETED!!!!!!

Another ER visit
Basically I fell off of my motorbike late last night and really fucked up my right foot. A truck cut me off and I was sideswiped, falling to the ground. My foot absorbed all of the weight. Initially, I thought I was fine after the accident. When I went to stand up though I felt a sharp pain in my right foot.
I looked down to see a massive portion of flesh missing from the top of the foot,...

OK Then
So I think I’ve managed to piss off all of my Thai friends somehow. Nobody answers their phone and none of my calls are returned. I think I know the reason as to why this is happening, but its all silly.
Nice
Just stumbled across this little stand along the Ping River that sells Fireworks and Chang beer. I bought a few exploding roman candles and fired them over the river.
Staying Put
I got a call yesterday from the school where I took my TEFL course. They asked me if I would be willing to sign a contract to teach kindergartners. Its only 10 hours a week, but it pays 300 baht an hour. I have also lined up some work at another language school working 15+ hours a week.
If I had taken the job down south I would be working 45 hours a week making 30,000. They way things are now...
Its a start...
Hi Kyle, I have been passed your email address by a colleague of mine, Cara, who says she spoke with you on the bus to Chiang Mai. I am head “farang” teacher at xxxxx. We currently have a vacancy for an English teacher that I thought might interest you. You would be teaching students in pratoms 1 to 6 (ages 7 to 12), and would be following a set curriculum using the...

Screw This!
The job market in Chiang Mai is terrible right now. Not only is it impossible to find work but I’m competing against all of my friends from the TEFL class.
Bangkok bound next week. That was my original plan anyways…
